Unlearn the Constellations

Just for a moment here,
I’ll be less of an astronomer,
and more of a communist.
I will look at things all-sidedly.

I will forget what you did to the heart.
How you took it to Transamerica Pyramid
to show it the panoramic view,
before you let it drop 800 feet.

You showed me the body within the body.
I tasted your wildness, tart like berries.
You talked to me and I melted.
Only the sweetest memories of you today.

I had a realization while staring into space:
The vast darkness and the bright stars.
You will die. There will be no heaven.
But I will not get to say, “I told you so.”
